Mo Ibrahim Foundation MBA Scholarships for Sub-Saharan Africans at London Business School
We start with the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, organized to promote leadership and governance in Africa. Their MBA scholarships are intended for nationals of Sub Saharan Africa. We’ve applied this full tuition award towards the cost of attending the London Business School’s full time MBA programme and come up with the following value:

Foundation Eduarda Justa MBA Scholarships
We move on to the Eduarda Justa foundation, whose primary mission to promote and assist the economic, social, educational and cultural development of the province of Almería. They offer full tuition scholarships, a monthly stipend, travel expenses as well as a little bit extra on top to get you started. We’ve used IESE’s Full time MBA programme as a guideline to come up with these calculations:

Gates Cambridge Scholarships
The ninety five Gates Cambridge Scholarships offered each year covers practically everything that is required for a student to complete an MBA programme from Judge Business School. The scholarships are intended to build a global network of future leaders committed to improving the lives of others. The Trust generously awards full tuition, a discretionary component to cover living expenses, visa costs, plus a round trip air ticket.

  • MBA Programme Fees (Judge Business School):  £44,960 (regular mba) or £63,960 (executive mba)
  • Discretionary Component: £13,900 ($20,777)
  • Round Trip Ticket: ~$1,500 (direct, let’s say from South Africa to London)
  • Visa Costs: ~$500

Sampoerna Foundation Overseas MBA Scholarship
The Putera Sampoerna Foundation awards Indonesian students who wish to study abroad with a scholarship which covers virtually all the costs involved in pursuing an MBA degree. This philanthropic organization -turned – social business enterprise, provides educational assistance for Indonesian students.

Thouron Award MBA Scholarship
The Thouron award exists for the promotion of better understanding and closer friendship between the people of the United Kingdom and the United States of America. It awards full tuition, a living allowance, travel expenses and health insurance for University of Pennsylvania graduates who intend to study in a UK-based school. We’ve chosen this lucky student to take part in the full time MBA programme at London Business School for the sake of this calculation:

  • MBA Programme Fees (London Business School):  £67,750 ($101,271)
  • Living Allowance: ~$36,000 (Room & Board for 15-21 months – averaging 18 months at $2,000 per month)
  • Health Insurance: ~$500 (mostly covered by NHS)

The Frank Knox Fellowships were established in 1945 to strengthen ties between the British Commonwealth and the U.S. To that end, the Harvard fellowships award full tuition, a stipend, and health insurance fee per annum.

  • Stipend: $53,000 ($26,500 per annum)
  • Health Insurance: $6,716 (Student Health Fee plus Health Plan for 2 years)

UNIQLO MBA Fellowships at Harvard Business School
Last but not least, Uniqlo, a Japanese-based clothing line retail and manufacturing company offers Japanese students up to a whopping $200,000 to study at Harvard. The amount offered just slightly edges out the Frank Knox Fellowship. In any case, it should be enough to cover all the requisite fees involved for a student to finish their studies at Harvard Business School. A great opportunity indeed for any student.
